Emergency Services Information
Wade Hampton Golf Club, Cashiers, NC (Jackson County)
All emergency services (medical, fire and police) are reached by dialing 911. The dispatcher will determine which type of emergency services are needed – medical, ambulance, fire or police.
Emergency services use the county 911 addressing system to locate a home. The permanent numerical street number for each home in Jackson County is assigned by the county during the construction of the home. If you have any questions about the correct street number for your home, you can call/email me at the POA office ( 828-743-9895 / wadehamptonpoa@gmail.com) or call Joanna Nicholson (828-743-7534) or Elaine Melton (828-586-7508) with the county to confirm the number.
Wade Hampton POA strongly encourages homeowners to display the county-issued numerical street number, along with last name, on a sign at the driveway entrance easily seen from the road. There is one approved sign and the POA will order it for the homeowner, at a cost of about $200 installed.
Wade Hampton utilizes the 911- recommended gate entry system which allows emergency services to enter the community at both the north and south gates, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. It is a radio-frequency system which allows not only fire and ambulance vehicles to open the gate, but first- responders in personal vehicles to also enter the community. There is also a code for these responders on file at the county 911 office. This system is tested periodically throughout the year. When either of these methods is deployed, Wade Hampton entry gates open without Guardhouse involvement.
DO NOT call the Guardhouse before calling 911. But while it is not necessary to alert the Guardhouse to emergency services being summoned, if time and situation allow, calling the Guardhouse after calling 911 might be helpful. It is important to understand that due to liability constraints, POA employees are not trained in CPR, nor are they allowed to render emergency services of any kind.
