Dear Wade Hampton POA Members,
As fall approaches, most Wade Hampton property owners will be planning their departure from the mountains for the winter. Closing up homes for the winter months is part of that process.
We encourage everyone to discuss home water management with their property manager or plumbing contractor and let us know if we can assist with water flow at the street.
Each home in Wade Hampton has a water box out front on the road, owned and maintained by the POA, which contains a shut-off valve. If the homeowner requests, it is a simple matter for us to close the valve in the box, stopping water flow to a home, and then open it back up when a homeowner returns.
Because water expands when it freezes, the water remaining in the pipes in the house still need to be drained, most often by a licensed and insured plumber hired by the homeowner. An alternative way to manage the water remaining in the lines in the house is to leave heat on, which should prevent the water pipes from freezing unless there is a power outage during sub-freezing temperatures.
Beginning Monday, November 3rd, the manned Security Guardhouse hours will shorten to 7am-7pm, Monday through Sunday. Please alert Security about anyone who will arrive at Wade Hampton without a vehicle gate sticker after 7pm, so advance arrangements can be made for entry. In addition, the information screen at each gate instructs the driver to enter 288 on the keypad. This directs a call to our after- hours support. Blue Ridge Security will confirm the visitor and destination and they will open the gate for access.
Beginning Monday, November 3rd, all work exterior and interior will be allowed Monday-Saturday, 8am-6pm. The community will be closed to all work Thanksgiving Day and the following Friday, November 27-28, and will reopen for all work on Saturday, November 29th.
And, trash pick-up in Wade Hampton will continue to be community-wide throughout October. Beginning Monday, November 3rd, members requesting trash pick-up at their homes will need to be on the list kept at the Gatehouse. Just call (828-743-3292) or email (whgc.poa.sec1@gmail.com) Security to be included.
