Dear Wade Hampton homeowners,

Almost half of the homes in Wade Hampton have been opened for the season and members are in residence!

Therefore, The Trash Company will now stop at each home for trash pick-ups, Monday and Thursday mornings, and being on our trash list at Security is no longer required. If a holiday falls on Monday or Thursday, like Memorial Day and Labor Day, service will still be on that day.  And DeWitt will once again be in the Trash Company truck servicing Wade Hampton, which is great news.  DeWitt usually starts with Chimney Top at around 9 am and services Cherokee Trace and then Silver Springs a couple of hours later.

Please make sure that all trash is bagged so that no trash is loose in your receptacle. Use blue or clear bags for recycling: glass, plastic, aluminum and steel cans together in a bag and paper (newspapers, magazines) in another. DeWitt cautions against including personal items such as bank statements in the paper recycling and asks that cardboard boxes be broken down and stacked unbagged next to the bags.  And please- no medical waste or yard debris in bags- he can’t take those.

The bears are already active on the plateau. Zollers sells a popular bear-resistant trash receptacle and the website  bearicuda.com lists various animal-resistant containers.  And remember- bears will be drawn to bird feeders and any food or food containers left in your vehicle.

Please reach out to one of the POA team members if you need special assistance with something, and we look forward to the season ahead!

Best,

Sandy (828-226-3623)
